Hazel joins ESSA after an extensive career as a monitoring and evaluation consultant. She has worked with numerous organisations, such as the Joint Education Trust, Ushahidi, LIVE Africa, and Porticus International.

She supported the Joint Education Trust with research studies commissioned by the International Labour Organisation. An example includes the barriers to labour mobility in South Africa, Ethiopia, and Kenya and a feasibility study on skill recognition in South Africa, Ethiopia, and Kenya.

She holds a BSc in Organisational Psychology and an MPhil in Monitoring and Evaluation from the University of Cape Town. Hazel is completing her PhD research at the University of East Anglia. Her research focused on the use of evidence in education policy-making in Kenya.
