Julian Apio Research Assistant
Prior to joining ESSA, Julian served as a Research Assistant at The Centre for Rapid Evidence Synthesis (ACRES) within Makerere University's medical school in Uganda. In this role, Julian played a pivotal part in delivering high-quality, up-to-date evidence to stakeholders, enabling evidence-informed policy-making in Uganda. She also actively contributed to capacity-building efforts, providing training in rapid evidence synthesis to institutions in East and Southern Africa.
Additionally, Julian has worked with the Ministry of Health, Uganda, in collaboration with Pathfinder International, as part of the Community Health Extension Workers' (CHEWs) project. Notably, she led the Nutrition department in developing the CHEWs' training curriculum. Her contributions included creating trainer's manuals, trainees' guides, and job aids.
She holds a Master's degree in Public Health Nutrition and a Bachelor's degree in Food Science and Technology, both from Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda.
With her diverse experience, commitment to evidence-informed policymaking, and expertise in public health nutrition, Julian is a valuable asset to the team at ESSA.
