Dr Edmund Nibeneeh Aalangdong is the Head of the African Centre for School Leadership Research at ESSA. He leads research that strengthens the evidence base on school leadership in Africa and supports the use of this evidence to inform policy, practice, and system improvement. 

Edmund brings extensive experience in education policy, tertiary education governance, educational technology, social and community development, and public policy planning. Before joining ESSA, he served as Deputy Director for Policy and Planning at the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission, where he coordinated policy formulation, strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation, and national statistical reporting for tertiary education. 

He has also coordinated major education initiatives, including the World Bank ACE Impact project in Ghana, the IFC Employability Tool Project, and the Partnership for Enhanced and Blended Learning project. 

Edmund holds a PhD in Development Studies from the University of Ghana and the Bonn Institute, and an MSc in Development Policy and Planning from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
