Sarah Boafo is a Research Assistant at Education Sub Saharan Africa (ESSA), supporting two key programmes: Early Childhood Development (ECD) and Localising Education Research in Africa for Equity and Inclusion (LERA-EI). Her work focuses on enhancing the visibility, quality, and impact of African-led education research to inform policy, practice, and learning outcomes.

Sarah's responsibilities include preparing concept notes, drafting reports, policy briefs, and blogs, and assisting with due diligence in selecting research grant applicants across sub-Saharan Africa.

Before her current role, Sarah interned at ESSA in a similar capacity. She completed a Peace and Development Internship at the UN Resident Coordinator's Office (UNRCO) in Ghana, where she drafted policy briefs and supported stakeholder engagement on peace and development agendas. She also served as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), contributing to research on sustainable built environments.

A Mastercard Foundation Scholar, Sarah holds an MPhil in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge, where she is also a certified trainee of the Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership (CISL). She holds a BSc in Land Economy from KNUST, graduating as the overall best student and recipient of the Professor Surveyor Ebenezer Acquaye Award for Academic Excellence.
