Benjamini Masebo is the Research Manager for Tanzania at ESSA, where he coordinates research and policy engagement for the African Centre for School Leadership (ACSL). He leads the Tanzania research agenda within the consortium, ensuring alignment with national and Pan-African priorities. Benjamini designs and oversees rigorous qualitative and quantitative studies on school leadership, education performance, and policy impact, while managing subgrants, research partnerships, and field implementation. He translates evidence into actionable recommendations and actively engages policymakers and practitioners through conferences, forums, and strategic networks to strengthen the use of African-led research and evidence.

Before joining ESSA, Benjamini served as Program Director and Acting Executive Director at Uwezo Tanzania, where he oversaw large-scale assessments of learning outcomes, life skills and values, and young adults’ preparedness for the employment sector. He also led various intervention programmes, including the implementation of Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) across multiple districts. Previously, he worked with Twaweza East Africa on citizen-led assessments and SDG monitoring.

He holds a Master’s degree in Research and Public Policy from the University of Dar es Salaam and a Bachelor of Education in Mathematics.
