Michael Chepkwony, Communications Manager
Michael Chepkwon is ESSA’s Communications Manager, where he leads the organisation’s communications strategy with a strong focus on research, policy influence, and impact. He shapes how ESSA communicates its projects and findings, ensuring research is translated into clear, accessible, and compelling messages for policymakers, practitioners, funders, and the wider research community. His work strengthens evidence-to-practice linkages and amplifies ESSA’s role in advancing quality education across Africa.
Michael develops and implements tailored project communication plans, oversees multimedia storytelling, and leads community engagement strategies that foster collaboration among researchers and partners. He also manages content production, supports media engagement, and oversees the planning of high-impact events that promote knowledge sharing and policy dialogue.
Before joining ESSA, Michael served as Communications Manager at Kakenya’s Dream and previously worked as a reporter at Standard Group, specialising in education and human-interest stories.
He holds a BA in Language and Literary Studies from Moi University, postgraduate training in Multimedia Journalism (Standard Media Academy in partnership with Aga Khan University), and a Certificate in Philanthropic Leadership from Pan-African Leadership Institute (PALI).
