Webinar Series (with PASGR)

The Partnership for African Social and Governance Research (PASGR), in collaboration with Education Sub Saharan Africa (ESSA), are hosting a series of webinars on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on higher education in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).

The webinar series brings insights from recent collaborative studies, programmatic interventions, and stakeholder engagements that ESSA and PASGR have led, working closely with other African partners. The aim is to understand how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in SSA, and, how and to what extent African universities surmounted these challenges to carry on with programme delivery and research.

The webinar series also brings together and foster discussion among policymakers, educators, students, funders, and other stakeholders.

Objectives

The objectives of the webinar series focusing on COVID-19 research and stakeholder engagement are as follows:

  • Share evidence and data on the impact of COVID-19 on higher education in SSA and how it was mitigated.

  • Foster discussions among stakeholders, based on the evidence available.

  • Create safe space for policy engagement to encourage uptake of available evidence for policy and programming.

  • Co-develop mechanisms of scaling and sustaining solutions and adaptations made to sustain teaching, research, and university management systems during the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Create opportunities for national and regional collaborations and partnerships in SSA.
