Here are some examples of our work and how they contribute to joining up, inspiring, focusing and increasing impact for everyone investing in education in sub-Saharan Africa.
Our work supports the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and is in alignment with the African Union’s Continental Education Strategy for Africa 2016-2025 (CESA).
Our focus at this stage of our development is Tertiary Education. Our first three major projects are:
Visibility and Accessibility of African Research on Education.
Development of Faculty.
Impact of Scholarships.
Our work on transforming the visibility and accessibility of African research on education is well advanced with the successful launch of the African Education Research Database, containing over 3,000 items of research.
Our pilot project in Ghana on the Demographics of Faculty has provided considerable insights into the issues of developing sufficient faculty of the right quality and type to meet burgeoning demand in Ghana, as well as in providing the foundation to be able to do the same in other African countries.
It is early days but our Pilot Scholarship Impact Hub is already producing some very useful insights and helping to start to change the discourse in what is a highly fragmented area.
ESSA also has early stage work going on in the other areas below which we believe have potential to become major projects when resources allow.
