Education Sub Saharan Africa (ESSA) hosts Industry Roundtable in Ghana
Education Sub Saharan Africa (ESSA) hosted an Industry Roundtable on 20th April 2022 to further engage employers in a project improving career service outcomes, with the goal of closing the skills gap and enhancing the employability of young people in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).
One of ESSA’s focus areas is young people’s transition into work from university/college. As such, we have partnered with The Education Collaborative (Ashesi University, Ghana) and Kepler (Rwanda) to gather evidence and data to ensure young people have the skills and understanding of the workplace to transition successfully into work.
During the roundtable, we shared findings from research that has been undertaken by ESSA and The Education Collaborative, including insights from recent interviews with industry and HEIs in Ghana, Rwanda and Burkina Faso. We will then facilitate structured discussions between employers and HEIs on the requirements and priorities for productive engagement and partnership
The main objectives of the roundtable was to:
-
Share findings from research that has been undertaken by ESSA and The Education Collaborative at Ashesi University, including insights from recent interviews with industry and HEIs in Ghana, Rwanda and Burkina Faso.
-
Facilitate structured discussions between employers and HEIs on the requirements and priorities for productive engagement and partnership
-
Gather further insights from industry to feed into guidelines for improving career service structures and employer engagement strategies within universities and colleges.
