Melinda was a research assistant at the National Centre for Research into Basic Education. Her engagement there gave her hands-on experience in data collection and analysis of educational issues in Ghana. She worked on several projects, including those funded by the British Council, Voluntary Service Overseas, Ghana Education Service and Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa.

She then worked at the Department of Social Welfare as an Assistant Social Development Officer.

Melinda also volunteered with Every Human Life Ghana as a research associate where she contributed to the success of the Women in Research Forum project.

Melinda holds a BSc in Development Planning from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and an MPhil in Educational Administration and Management from the University of Education, Winneba.
