ESSA Welcomes Abdelrahman Hassan to its Board of Trustees

ESSA is excited to announce the addition of Mr Abdelrahman Hassan to its Board of Trustees. Mr Hassan, a seasoned investment professional, brings valuable expertise to the organisation, marking a significant milestone in its growth and strategic direction.

"We are delighted to welcome our new trustee. His expertise and passion will be instrumental in helping us to continue to increase our impact. His social impact investment experience combined with his understanding and access to the business community and education sector will be invaluable," remarked Patrick Dunne, ESSA's Founder and Chair of the Board.

With over a decade of experience in investment advisory and non-governmental organisations, Mr. Hassan previously served as an impact investor at Imaginable Futures, focusing on advancing equity in education systems across Africa, Brazil, and the United States.

"I am honoured to join the Board of Trustees for an organisation deeply committed to strengthening education research in Africa," said Abdelrahman. "Since our investment in ESSA in 2021, I have witnessed its remarkable growth under a diverse and dynamic board and team. I am excited to contribute to shaping ESSA's future."

Dr Lucy Heady, CEO of ESSA, noted that Mr Abdelrahman's background in investment, funding mechanisms, and communications will be invaluable to the organisation's mission.

Mr Abdelrahman is a senior associate at Enza Capital, a multi-stage venture capital firm backing founders and teams using technology to solve large and meaningful problems across Africa. He holds a Master of Science in Sustainable Finance from the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management.

With Mr Abdelrahman's addition, the ESSA Board of Trustees now has seven members. Mr Abdelrahman was appointed during the March ESSA Board of Trustees virtual meeting.
