African Education Research Database Unveils Over 1,400 New Publications!

To spotlight the work of African education researchers, the African Education Research Database has just undergone a major update, led by the Research for Equitable Access and Learning (REAL) Centre at the University of Cambridge in partnership with Education Sub Saharan Africa (ESSA).

Dr Samuel Asare, Senior Research Manager at ESSA, states, ‘By expanding the African Education Research Database, we are not just adding publications; we are increasing the visibility and amplifying the voices of African education researchers.’

‘We are thrilled to see the database grow and evolve, becoming an invaluable resource for educators, policymakers, practitioners and researchers across the globe. This update marks a milestone for African education research, offering greater access to cutting-edge insights,’ remarks Professor Pauline Rose, Director at the REAL Centre.

However, that's not all – the African Education Research Database now hosts a vast collection of over 6,000 publications in multiple languages, including Arabic, English, French, Portuguese and Spanish.

The Database, which cuts across all phases of education, spans eight themes: Phase of Education, Teachers and Teaching, ICT, Language & Curriculum, Students, Learning & Assessment, Access to Education, Equitable, Inclusive Education, Institutional Leadership, Culture & Facilities and Policy & Financing.

Dr Olutola Olujuwon, an Associate Professor of Education Leadership and Management at the Lagos State University of Education commented, ‘It's a welcome development to have on the African continent. Sometimes the research from Africa is not well covered in developed countries, and to help the Africans to tell their own stories in their own way so others are able to understand some of the challenges we're facing, it's a welcome development.’

We encourage African education researchers to contribute their work to enrich this platform further. To be part of the database, simply email your publications to researchenquiries@essa-africa.org

Join us in celebrating this milestone and explore the abundance of knowledge within the African Education Research Database. You can read the latest research developments and contribute to the transformative impact on education across Africa and beyond. Visit the database now.
